Let's try for something a little more legitimate

The first thing you realize about mountains is that they're big.

Next, that they can be awfully rocky.  You begin to lament appreciate your lack of foresight in wearing sturdy boots, because you know you're going to take a pounding.

Maps can be deceiving, too.  Just because you're not headed to Mordor (after all, you can simply walk there) doesn't mean you're going to have an easy time.

 It's best to get the forest on your side as well.  Be sure to lend a hand to any tree that needs one.
